Scallop Season Here Early

Governor Charlie Crist. requested scallop season start a little sooner due to the crisis in the gulf. Season usually opens July 1st but has now been set to open this Saturday June 19th. The season will extend through September 1st. For more information, visit www.myfwc.com.

Good information, I had no idea about this! Is this also true for lobsters? I wish they would move up and extend the dates for lobster season. The Keys offer some amazing Lobster and I would hate to hear that we will not be able to go lobstering next year because of the unacceptable oil spill.

I haven’t heard any new news pertaining to lobster season but it wouldn’t suprise me if they opened the season early. I will look into it and let you know.
