Look up you tubes who killed the electric car. At least 90% of us would be driving electric cars right now if the EV-1 would have been left on the market. It was effectively destroyed by big oil because they knew it was the beginning of their end. It is and always has been all about the money. If we were driving electric cars we would never ever have to stop at a gas pump and there would never have been off shore oil.
