Been visiting AMI for several years. Discovered the piers at the Sunshine Skyway (like they were hidden?) last year. Headed back to AMI - 4/15-4/23 - with my 11 year old son and 12 year old nephew.

Looking for any tips on when / how to fish the piers right. Had pretty good luck (and a couple great meals) with Spanish Mackerel using live shrimp last year.

Basically, I'm a hack who enjoys fishing. Any tips/advice welcome.

Thanks!

Look up you tubes who killed the electric car. At least 90% of us would be driving electric cars right now if the EV-1 would have been left on the market. It was effectively destroyed by big oil because they knew it was the beginning of their end. It is and always has been all about the money. If we were driving electric cars we would never ever have to stop at a gas pump and there would never have been off shore oil.

Hello Tom, your best bet is to have a damp towel ready to hold onto the fish, never allowing it to touch the ground. The quicker you can unhook and throw it back without damaging it the better the survival rate. Furthermore, throw the fish head first which will allow water to flow through the gills giving the fish just enough oxygen. I hope these tips help ;)

brand new to pier fishing. any tips/etiquette for properly releasing a fish when pier fishing. just grew up doing some very simple lake fishing and it was easy to limit the amount of time the fish was out of the water. different story on a pier
