What size are the reels? The only conventional reel I've used are the Daiwa Sealine and The Saltist... You can get a brand new Convector reel for about $80. The rod will be about another $60. Maybe someone else can tell you a little bit more about Convectors =)

ya I plan to be doing a lot of fishing (my main reason for going) but I'm thinking about spending more coin and buying a penn senator 113h ($109 over the net) or possibly something smaller like a penn levelwind 309m ($70 over the net) now my next question are these reels cheaper in the states? Last time I went there I bought a 300yard spool of power pro 30lb for like $25.

If I where u, I would get somthing with gear ratio over 3.1, like a 3.6 to 4.2. The Penn GTO levelwind reel is good. The 230gto rates at 30 lbs/320 yards - ratio 3.6:1 at $69.99 & the 220gto rates at 20lbs/320 yards-ratio 4.2:1. at $59.99. This is good for your budget. Pflueger Contender reels are ratioed at 3.6, 4.3:1, 6.0:1 & holdling from 30/320-20/420 yards & priced at $ 59.99. Shimano Triton Graghite levelwinds reels - ratio 4.3:1 & 20/300 yards at 59.99. These are all from BassProShops. I've never seen any other fishing stores cheaper than them. I hope this helps u out.

Alright I just got back from bass pro and I purchased a spinning rod/reel combo because they are having a big sale, its a medium-heavy 7 ft rated for 15-30 pound line, the reel looks a bit iffy it has a 4.9:1 ratio, It was meant to be used for big catfish which is probably why it was %50 off got it for $25. And I found a nice spool of 300 yard 50 pound spiderwire sitting in my pike tackle box (it came with a reel I bought and I thought when the hell am I going to need 50 pound test braid and I never really trusted spiderwire cause power pro is the bomb) so I spooled it up (cause braid has no memory) 240 yards of 50 pound braid should do me just fine. In case you can't tell I wanna fish real bad and the foot of snow outside really isn't helping... make that a foot and a half.
