Drove up to Jax beach from central fla today, decided to go up A1A and drop in on some piers...the pier operator at St Auggie and at Jax Beach reported no action other than "a few whiting". Too cold, they both said. One old timer at St Aug said "Water's too cold...they won't bite until it's up at 60 or so" and he supposed that the water temp was 54 F or thereabouts. There were about 8 anglers at Vilano Beach Pier, but they were all empty handed too. _________________ live and work in central fla, so i can go both ways...fishing-wise i mean, east coast or west. |

| Have you tried surf fishing at Anastasia. I haven't been there this year, but in years past I have caught some nice Blues this time of year. You used to be able to drive way down the beach, they closed it to vehicles some years back, but you can still hike far enough from the swimmers to fish in peace. |

Make sure you have a four wheel drive before you drive on the beach.
Sometimes they direct you to drive way up in the sugar sand. If you stop your stuck. 2 years ago I learned the hard way and there is little sympathy from the locals. |
