|
|
I and my brother are coming down to florida the first week of October and we are bringing my 16 foot boat. It is a V bottom boat with a 40 horse on it. We just have it in 4-6 foot waves so we will be able to use it around the mouth of tampa bay. We want to go after grouper and stuff like that. So my question is are there any good places like reefs and stuff like that to fish around the Mouth of Tampa Bay and around the skyway pier with out bothering the fisherman on the skyway pier? We are going to be fishing from October 3 to October 12. The boat can not hold to many people but if anyone (that we know like pucky) would like to go out with us on one of those first few days to show us some spots that would be awsome! Thanks and I will see you guys in aobut 64 days! _________________ Park Ranger and Bass Pro Employee!

You can go aroung the dolphins underneath the new skyway bridge. and anchor and you can see straight down the grouper are great and so are the jacks and mackeral. The sharks are okay too just watch out for the big oil tankers and cruise ships.

hey Ryan! hope you and your bro are doing well. october is expected to be a great start to the fall run... so i hear. its usually when my commercial buddies start making money (around my area at least). grouper will be more nearshore and should be pretty thick at the skyway by then.
i'm not familiar with the water around the skyway but i know that its productive to fish the furthest ends of the rockpiles on the tide with the water moving towards the pier. (ie. fish the outgoing side on an incoming tide)
ive also seen people trolling up and down the rockpiles but you might as well troll near the shipping channel and get the big guys. i read alot about people trying this unsuccessfully and about alot of people being very successful with a specific technique.
you gotta good amount of time to research it! |

Thanks for the help guys. And I say we all meet up on the pier on either the 5th (friday) or the 6th (saturday) when we are down there. _________________ Park Ranger and Bass Pro Employee!
