I would like to hear from anyone who has been able to catch any legal snook now that SNOOK season is open.

I was able to bag a 27incher on the 2nd, on a spot inside John's Pass/ North Boca Ciega Bay. Fish were taking large pinfish on an outgoing tide about noon. Water was dirty, and there was a decent amount of rain that week. The spot held a dozen or so fish between 20-30inches. Hasn't produced on days with double tides, but I'll be on it this upcoming week as the tides shift back to one large tide...Saw a few fish just inside the pass fishing on opening night. But not in the numbers I'd hoped for....

That is great, the fish will be moving into the local canals soon with the cooler weather on its way. Do you fish for snook in the late fall, winter time?

I was told about john's pass last night. I heard reports of people being spooled, and this was descent gear. 250 yards of line spooled right off the poles. One guy had 3 poles spooled in one night using pins for bigg snook. A lot of nice snapper also being caught around the structure at the john pass bridge. I think i might have to check this spot out soon, i have never been there. What do you think Josh.

I fish em year round, with varying amounts of success depending on if the season's open, heh...

Might be dolphins, they work the pass heavily, on the other hand the pass has its concentrations of big snook and tarpon so who knows... I haven't done as well in the Pass this year, I feel due mainly to the new bridge construction, so I've been waiting for them to start their transition... Ran into 1 large snook today on my "spot", but it was fairly slow, and HOT!!! So I think I'll go back to night snookin for a bit

Thats some pretty good report green cobra. I also bagged a 32incher that season but i was an hour late. I was fishing 1 a.m. an hour after the season closed. I wouldn't have kept it anyways.
