New equipment

Hi everybody, Im kinf of new on surf fishing, so I need some help. Im from Monterrey Mexico,29 years old,and as must of you(I guess), I love to be in any kind of outdoors activity. Im looking for a good equipment to start fishing in some places near my state, I know that there is toooo many brands and each one has different issues to offer, so please help me to decide. I had a Zebco Salt Fisher, but it suffer an accident :0(.So I need a new weapon.

Ok, I heard that Ugly Stick rods are a good option for surf fishing, but what else do u know?,Does anyone are familiar with Daiwa Saltiga?.About the reel, I choosed Penn Sargus SG6000(because some good reviews that I read before), but hope one of my senseis could iluminate my way to become a good surf fishing angler.

About the size of the rod, maybe 11 or 12 feet long could be good for me I guess.
