Hello,
I am brand new to the Pierfishingguide forum. It is awesome website by the way. I have been reviewing many post and you folks seem to be the ones to ask for information in regards to this topic. I live in Ohio and for the last couple of years I have been making annual trips to the Boca Grande area to catch tarpon and sharks and I use a guide service. I am now addicted to fishing for tarpon!.
I have been wanting to find a location to catch tarpon from the shore. Due to not owning a boat and only visiting the florida area once or twice a year and due to the economy I can no longer afford to pay for a guide.
I am wanting to plan a trip down to florida to fish for tarpon this year and
want to attempt to catch tarpon from the shore / beach / pier etc.
Can you please give me the best time of year and the areas to go to do a "Do it yourself" shore fishing expedition for tarpon. I have no experience when it comes to this type of fishing so any advice on fishing tackle, baits, rigs and most importantly locations to fish would be appreciated greatly.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. |
