Anyone caught a keeper yet? I haven't been saltwater fishing but I plan to go and get me a few.

I know some people who have caught 20-30 keepers but no one was keeping any of them. 38 1/4 incher was caught on a doa cal pink and white flook with a jig head on a split shot in the middle of a school of menhaden.

I work by the old Newport Pier and go fishing up and down the beach atleast 4 times a week. Actually... Never really fished for snook. Went on a BIG ASS Hunt from Halouver to the right of where the Charter boats dock now... on the rocks. "which came highly recommended" and was told to free-line just live live shrimp with a circle hook and I'd be in business. Hit it on perfect tide. Coming down an hour and a half into it. And caught 2 small cudas. Not one snook passed by. I have to say I've seen them all over the place there fishing for snapper one day, which is why I wanted to fish for snook in the first place, but decided to wait for open season. They told me to hit the 79 street causeway. Hit that up for a while with my bucket full of live shrimp and not one snook was seen. Back to Halouver... yada yada yada... Any suggestions of a good spot and technique for a new comer? Appreciate any advice in advance...
Looking to go back out 2nite. If anyone is going out there... Wusup??

Gandy bridge, close to the rocks hold great snook action. May be worth the trip Wink
