Need some advice from the experienced fly fisherman. I am wanting to get more into fly fishing. I want to know what a good starter rod and reel combo would be. I would like to spend around $250.00. The rod will be primarily used for saltwater but I would like to be able to use it in freshwater as well.

Is there a specific book that I should get to learn more about fly fishing? One guy suggested I get an 8 weight for saltwater fishing. All advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Very Happy

Josh, I would suggest you take a ride over to Bass Pro. They carry a great selection of Rods, Reels and other accessories. I have bought several from there as well as all my fly tying supplies. They carry White River Fly Shop, Ross, Orvis, Temple Fork, Hobbs Creek and others. I would probably match up my own combo versus buying one setup. These guys can set you up, show you some flys to tie and are real helpful in general. I have a 4 weight I used for Trout streams, 3- 8 weights for general Salt water and a 10 weight for larger species.
