Moved down to Sarasota a few years ago and have been fishing the South Skyway pier for the last year. (finally realized my wife was not going to let me buy a boat and the SSP is next best thing)

I am glad I found this website and forum. I have already received some great advice and the topics are chock full of good info.

Hopefully I can repay you guys some day with some knowledge of my own (or atleast some good fish photos).

Thanks again.

You think the south pier is better than the north pier? Is there a bait shop there also? I always just go to the north side...that's the St. Pete side, correct?

I think the south pier is way better than the north and yes there are restrooms and a bait shop on the south.

The north pier is way to congested and the south pier has a lot more structure you can fish.

Can't argue with that. My partner and I used to fish north pier almost exclusively because we come from St Pete. Tried the so. pier a few months ago & now that's where we mostly go.
Last time there the pinfish nearly drove us nuts. We mostly floatfish for macks & every bait we cast out was immeadiately swarmed by pins. Finally quit at 11 with only 11 keepers.
